These natural hair dyes packs or masks can be made at home with natural ingredients which will leave your locks shiny, healthy and lustrous along with colouring them. So now you don’t have to worry about plenty of chemicals used in salon products.

Here are 6 natural hair colour packs-

Indigo powder, extracted from Indigo leaves is a blue dye that gives a blue tint to the hair when applied without henna. If you want to colour your hair black, first apply henna and then apply indigo paste on your hair. In order to get brown colour, mix henna powder with indigo powder and make a paste.

Indigo powder along with colouring hair also provides a lot of benefits to hair. It treats baldness, promotes hair growth, treats dry scalp and softens hair. Hence, applying indigo powder with henna adds to its benefits.

3) Henna with Amla Powder

Amla- Indian Gooseberry - Skon Henna

Amla, also known as the Indian Gooseberry is an amazing Ayurvedic Indian herb that helps to make hair strong, shiny and voluminous. Amla powder can be mixed with henna to create auburn tones. It helps in darkening the henna hair colour.

To apply henna and amla powder pack-

1) Make henna paste with lemon juice or water, and let sit 24 hours.
2) Add amla prior to application, and check paste consistency.
3) Apply the paste to hair, cover with a shower cap, let sit 1-4 hours, and rinse with a gentle shampoo.

4) Coffee or Tea

Black Tea

If you want to cover gray hair and get a darker shade, coffee is a great way to achieve that and coffee also adds dimension to dark tresses. To apply coffee as a natural hair dye simply brew a strong coffee and let it cool. Then mix one cup of leave-in conditioner and 2 tablespoons of coffee powder.

Use the coffee conditioner instead of regular conditioner. Let the conditioner sit in your hair for 10-15 minutes and then rinse hair.

Just like coffee, black tea can also help you go darker and cover gray hairs. Tea works best with your natural colour. It enhances the natural hair colour. Black tea can darken blonde hair and chamomile can lighten it (especially if you sit in the sun while you apply it).

Make the tea highly concentrated. Use 3-5 teabags for two cups of water. You can apply the cooled tea to hair alone, or mix with conditioner. You can mix some fresh or dried sage to cover the gray hair. Leave on hair for at least an hour or more if you want a darker colour.

5) Beetroot and Carrot Juice

Beetroot - Skon Henna

Beetroot is a vegetable that contains betacyanins owing to the reddish-purple colour. The juice of beetroot and carrot can be used as a natural red colour. When you apply beet juice to your hair, it gives the follicles a beautiful reddish-purple colour and the carrot juice gives an orange-reddish tinge.

Applying this mask on your hair boosts the circulation of blood throughout the scalp, stimulating hair follicles and promoting hair growth. This way of naturally dying hair can help the scalp get rid of dead cells, dandruff, and itchiness and condition it thoroughly.

The juices can be used alone or by combining both. The volume of both the juices depend on your colour preferences. For an increased reddish tinge or deeper red, use more volumes of beetroot juice whereas to get an orange-reddish tinge use more amount of the carrot juice. Beet and carrot juice be used to create deeper and more purple tones in your hair.

How to utilize:

1) Take equal volumes of the cup to make an infusion. (The quantity of each depends on the colour tinge required.)
2) Apply on hair, wrap and leave for an hour. These juices have the ability to leave stains so cover the skin and clothes.
3) You can put this natural hair dye pack with coconut oil or olive oil as well. Repeat the process to get more colour.
